Absa Bank Mozambique inaugurated a new Premier Service Centre in Beira, Sofala province, in the course of reopening its Chiveve branch with the bank’s new branding. The event is part of one of the largest rebranding projects in Africa which Absa Bank Mozambique launched on November 11th.
Inaugurating the new space last Friday, November 22, Absa Bank Mozambique’s Retail and Business Banking Director Pedro Carvalho revealed that the agency had set limits on the use of paper for environmental reasons and in order to meet sustainable development goals.
“The agency we are reopening here is equipped with the latest technology for banking services. The entire agency is fully computerised and there will be no paper, because the only processes it uses are digital. This way, we not only try to make the experience as convenient as possible for our customers, but we will also fulfil our ecological responsibility to society as a whole,” Carvalho said.

“We also have a new section, which we call the Premier Centre, where we will offer our customers a personalised service, with the highest level of confidentiality and comfort, but which has the ability to offer tailor-made solutions for every type of customer, all the way from the small entrepreneurs to big companies,” he added.
Also present and representing the provincial government, the Permanent Secretary of the Province, Rui Nalipa, highlighted the contribution of banking institutions in general and Absa in particular, to the socio-economic development of the region. Nalipa remarked that the expansion of banking services offered young people in particular employment opportunities.
“As a government, we encourage and urge the ABSA Group to extend its services throughout Sofala province and embrace the presidential ‘One District, One Bank’ initiative, even in districts where there is another bank. We believe people residing in the districts should have at least one alternative, in terms of banking services,” Nalipa told distinguished guests, such as representatives of the Bank of Mozambique.
The Absa Group operates in 12 African countries and has around 42,000 employees across the continent.
